Kodaikanal Tours

Kodaikanal or Kodai, a famous hill station, is situated at an altitude of 2195 meter, on the southern ridge of the Palani hills in Tamilnadu. It is quite notable amongst the domestic as well as international tourist and has entitled as the Princess of Hill Stations. Literally Kodaikanal means 'the gift of the forest. The hill retreat was founded by American missionaries around 1845 in order to escape from the unbearable heat of plain areas. Now it is home to several famous schools.

Major tourist destinations

Kodai Club-One of the most sought-after tourist destination in the town, it is the remarkable personification of British recreation where you can enjoy period fireplace, the piano, the Leigh Hunt prints, the library, a bar with stuffed heads of bison, tigers, deer-horns and a picture of the Laughing Cavalier by Franz Hals, the restaurant with old English plates, a glowing hearth-fire, and landscape prints

Kodai Lake- Situated at the heart of the hill station, the lake is consisted of by damming the valley where three streams flowed. It covers an area of 60 acre and offers wide range of water sports enjoyment such as boating, public ferry and paddle boat

Lutheran Church- the holistic church has a beautiful gothic stone building with stained glass windows, modern paintings and batiks portraying scenes from the life of Christ. Other notable church of the place is Christ-the king church.

Bryants Park- Situated on the East side of the lake, Bryants Park has got its name from a forest officer who has designed its layout. It is paradise for botanist and nature lovers as it is the home to several species of plants such as pine trees, Eucalyptus, azaleas, watsonias, dahlias, stock, primulas, fusschias, asters and orchids. In the park you can find famous 150 year old eucalyptus tree date back to 1846 AD.

Coakers park- It has got its name from St Coaker of the royal Engineers, located 1 km from the lake. The park offers an awesome view of the plains and distant hills and sunrise.

Apart from these attractions you can also explore other attractive places for instance Dolphins nose, Perumal peak, Berijam Lake, Kukal cave, Pillar rocks, Bear Shola fall, Silver Cascade Falls, Flora and fauna museum etc.
